Photographs of the beautiful and haunting faces of South African orphans and the women who raise them will cover the walls of York Public Library's meeting rooms during the month of December, thanks to the skill and creativity of Kennebunkport artist and photographer Berri Kramer.
Photographer Berri Kramer, who is president of the Heartwood College of Art, received a grant to travel to South Africa where she photographed children and residents at "Jabulani," a community in KwaZulu- Natal, where women are the caregivers to the many children who have lost their parents to AIDS.
Designing Women, a craft guild that features an all-woman membership, will hold its Sixth Annual Fine Arts and Craft Show and Sale for the benefit of A Safe Place Shelter for Women.
I love Accord - the bi-annual Mary Harding-Tom Johnson collaboration in which selections of antique furniture, home furnishings artifacts and accessories from the collections of the Old York Historical Society are removed from their historic home settings and brought to the George Marshall Store Gallery where they shine in a temporary "life" amid contemporary artwork by New England painters.
