William F. Maloney
YORK - It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father.
Bill Maloney, 93, of York passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Sentry Hill.
He was born April 28, 1914, in Somerville, Mass., son of William M. and Margaret (Moore) Maloney. He was raised in Somerville and started vacationing in York with his family in the 1950s before moving permanently in 1976.
He worked for John Hancock Insurance Co. as a debit agent for 33 years before retiring. He was an avid golfer and when he couldn't play anymore, he loved watching golf on television.
He was devoted to his wife, Edna A. (Frink) Maloney, who predeceased him in 2005.
He is survived by his son, John, of California; three grandchildren, Greg of Iowa and Faith and Holly of California, and four great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Nikki and Emily of Iowa and Shaylee of California.
John and his family would like to thank all of Bill's friends who watched over him and visited him at home and most recently at Sentry Hill. Thank you, too, to the wonderful staff at Sentry Hill and to Beacon Hospice.

John R. Sadowski, Jr.
YORK - John (Jack) R. Sadowski, Jr., 74, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H.
He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Deerfield, Mass., son of John R. and Stephanie (Sklepowicz) Sadowski. He had worked as a physical therapist at the V.A. Hospital in Leeds, Mass., and at various nursing homes in the Springfield, Mass., area. He was a member of the Northampton Elks Lodge, the Jaycees and St. Christopher's Church in York.
His wife, Joyce A. (Cadette) Sadowski, died in 2001.
He leaves a daughter, Lynn Gallagher and her husband John Gallagher of Lowell, Mass.; a cousin, Thomas Growhoski and his wife Sally of Northampton, Mass., and many friends in the Northampton, Mass., and York areas, including his dear friends Beverly and Nick Venturo of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Calling hours for Mr. Sadowski were held Jan. 29 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, http://www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com/, and the Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 30 in St. Christopher's Church. Burial will be in the First Parish Cemetery, York.

Bert R. Watts
KITTERY - Bert R. Watts, 87, of 12 Armour Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Denver, Colo., son of Louis and Rebecca (Hawkins) Watts. He graduated from James A. Garfield High School in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1940. He was a WWII veteran and served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He retired April 4, 1962, on the USS Albacore after 22 years of serving on a total of 17 submarines.
He then began working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Naval Lodge # 184 A.F. & A.M. in Kittery.
He leaves his wife of 67 yrs, Anna (Blake) Watts; a son, Glenn A. Watts and his wife Rosemary Watts of Eliot; a daughter, Nancy L. Mabey of Groveland, Mass.; three grandchildren, William Mabey III, Cheryl Cleary and Susan Heroux, and eight great-grandchildren, William Mabey IV, Jeffrey Mabey, John Cleary, James Cleary, Peter Cleary, Melina Heroux, Eve Heroux and Pierre Heroux.
He was predeceased by a son, David Russell Watts, and two brothers, Walter W. Watts and George Watts.
He was a loving husband, father and "Gramps" and will be sadly missed by all his loving family.
A Masonic service for Mr. Watts was held Feb. 7 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, http://www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com/, and burial will be York's First Parish Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
