YORK - On Feb. 16, the York Middle School Hawkins Division hockey team took to the ice to play Auburn under unusual circumstances: they were playing without a goalie.

York stepped up to the challenge with an incredible effort by all, and skated away with an 8-1 victory.

John Cifrino put York on the board early followed quickly by a beautiful pass from Craig Decato to Christian Going for his first of three goals on the evening.

Going came back with two more goals before the end of the first period to make it 4-1.

Kyle Robinson would net two goals on the evening and Decato would put two away as well to make the final score 8-1.

Also playing well offensively for York were Wes Warner, Conor Banfield, Shane Hughes and Zach Franklin.

The defense really stepped up with tremendous play from Aaran Maran, Alex Janetti, Robinson, Tom Cifrino and Alex Arau.

York was scheduled to take its undefeated record into the final game of the regular season on Feb. 18 against Portland.
