YORK - The York High School indoor track team competed in the State Championship Meet on Feb. 18 at Bates College in Lewiston.

The girls' team took fourth and the boys team finished a respectable eighth in the 25-team meet.

Standouts on the girls' side included Chelsey Tewell, repeating as state champion in the 55-meter dash and the 55-meter hurdles, and Regan Cleminson, winning the state title for high jump. Both girls will compete in the New England meet next week in Boston, Mass.

On the boys' side, Rob Cook, Mat Maertens, Brian Farrell and Mark Vogel beat their own school record and placed third in the 800 relay, and a series of fifth-place slots went to Andrew Hirst in the shot-put, Maertens in the high jump, Cook in the 55-meter dash and Vogel in the hurdles.
