THE DOGS

Dakota

This noble young man knows just what he's looking for in life: a home he can call his own. Dakota is a quiet guy who will benefit from a well-rounded household with regular routine and minimal traffic. Finding new situations and new people to be frightening, Dakota takes some warming up to. He adores those he can trust and shows his true goofy side when relaxed. Enjoying daily walks, Dakota does wonderful on a Gentle Leader and can often be found trotting down a trail with one of our volunteers. While anxious (rowdy dogs make him nervous), he seems to find the company of quiet well-mannered dogs comforting. The sight of cats and small animals very easily arouses Dakota so we will not be asking him to share his home with any. His sensitive nature along with his immense size is sure to catch your eye. Give this gentle giant a comforting home and he is sure to blossom.

Annie

This beautiful girl is Annie, a four-year-old spayed female golden retriever. Annie came to us because she had a conflict with other dogs in her previous family so we will not be asking her to share her new home with other canines. Annie will, however, do just fine with children over 10 years old. She is a very smart girl who knows the commands "sit" and "down." She would love to find a forever home. If this high-spirited girl has sparked an interest then come down and visit with her today. You may just find that Annie is the perfect companion for you.

Jade

Jade is an 18-month-old spayed female hound mix who came to the shelter when she had a conflict with the other dogs in the home. She is full of energy and would love to participate in obedience class with her new family to hone her skills as a new family member. Jade should do well with some dogs and children of all ages.

Alice

She's an absolute doll with a fantastic personality and a dazzling little face. Her active and playful antics make it hard to believe she is 10 years old. Alice is a Maltese looking for that special someone to scoop her up and give her the loving home she craves. She thoroughly enjoys her daily walks and wants nothing more then to spend time with her special people. She has some medical challenges to face and will need an owner willing to help her stay healthy. Alice has been diagnosed with diabetes and has a food allergy. She eats a dry prescription diet twice a day and has her insulin shot when she is fed. Despite her medical needs, Alice is an easygoing girl that gets along with dogs, cats and gentle children who can respect her space. This sweet girl will bring much happiness to one lucky family and can't wait to go home.

Eli

Eli is a 10-month-old American bulldog mix who came to AWS as a result of a puppy mill seizure. He is currently in foster care and will be available by appointment only. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him: "He came to us inexperienced and under-socialized, as is common with puppy mill survivors. He was afraid of basically everything, both small and large. Eli was born in a kennel and never experienced home life, so normal everyday things we do and use were very new to him. He is now thriving in foster care with us. Our home consists of four other dogs and six cats. Eli loves other dogs and looks to his canine buddies for guidance. He would love to have a canine buddy who is compatible in play style and size in his forever home. He loves to romp and roughhouse. Eli is especially insecure around men, though he has done extremely well with my husband and gets better every day. His new home will need to take it extremely slow and have patience when it comes to introducing him to men. His confidence has increased inside our house and now he enters, exits and walks through the house comfortably. This was a big milestone for him! When he first arrived, he didn't even want to venture out of his crate. Since then, his confidence has increased and he's become much more inquisitive about things, and Eli, being a typical young dog who loves to play and romp, will make fun with most anything. When we are not around to watch him he enjoys resting comfortably and safely in his crate. Eli has done very well with house-training but has had a few accidents with no blame but my own. I sometimes forget that he's still young with a small attention span. He attends obedience class every week and he seems to be enjoying it. He has been a promising student who always tries his best. His new family should continue this training as well as work on socialization with people, and confidence building. An active home with some great leadership is what he needs to thrive."

Ringo

Ringo is a strapping seven-year-old neutered male pitbull who came to AWS because he was not the right match for his previous family. He is an intelligent and playful dog who loves to give kisses and will do well with some dogs and children over the age of 10.

Spanky

This is Spanky, an eight-year-old neutered male collie who is sable in color. Spanky came to us because, unfortunately, his previous owner's landlord would not allow him to stay. This big guy can be a bit shy at first but warms right up in no time. Spanky is very smart and he knows the commands "sit," "down" and "shake." Spanky would love to find a great forever family to spend the rest of his years with. He has no objection to living with cats, dogs or children over the age of 10. Come down and visit Spanky today and you will see for yourself what a great guy he really is.

Scooby

Here we have Scooby, a five-year-old neutered male pitbull mix who has a very nice chocolate and white-colored coat. Scooby is a very intelligent boy who knows how to shake and speak. A basic obedience class would be a great way of helping Scooby and his new owners to bond. Scooby would love to find his forever home. He is a very affectionate boy who will do well with other dogs, children over the age of 10 and dog-savvy cats. Come down and visit Scooby today. The two of you could become the best of friends!

THE CATS

Xena

You can often find her taking a snooze in a soft cozy bed or gazing comfortably out the window. She's laidback and tremendously sweet, searching for that kind, special someone she can call all her own. Coming to us as a very ill stray, completely jaundiced and very debilitated, Xena was sent to the emergency clinic. Xena received proper care and extensive medical treatment to get her back on her feet. In the process of mending her health, the veterinarian discovered she has a liver insufficiency. With the help of a crushed pill added to her food daily, she can keep this under control. The small amount of extra effort is sure to be rewarded by the love and affection this sweet girl has to offer. Xena has had a long journey to reach the moment of finally being ready for adoption. You don't want to pass this girl by; she is a special find, sure to win your heart.

Baja

Baja is a six-year-old neutered male cat who has a beautiful shiny short black coat. Baja came to us as a stray so, as you can imagine, he can't wait to find out what it feels like to have a safe and loving home to call his own. He may be a bit shy at first, but within minutes he will warm right up. This little love bug would like you to come in and visit with him. Baja may just be the perfect little kitty for you!

Dozer

This big boy is Dozer, a two-year-old neutered male who has a nice short gray and white coat. Dozer came to us because his previous owner had too many cats. In knowing this, he wouldn't mind sharing a home with another feline or two. Dozer anxiously awaits his forever home, so if this hunk of a man sparks an interest, come and visit with him today.

Thomas

This beautiful boy is Thomas, a one-year-old neutered male who has a gorgeous white-colored coat with just a hint of orange on top of his head. Thomas was born in one of our great foster homes. He is shy when he first meets new people so, his new family will have to be understanding of this. Given a bit of time and lots of TLC, Thomas will come out of his shell. In being at the shelter in one of our community cat rooms for well over six months he has come a long way. This being said, you can see that he has been here for far too long! Thomas would love nothing more than to find a quiet and loving forever home and family to call his own. Come down and visit with him today. You and Thomas just may be the perfect match!

Bunny

Meet Bunny, a 12-year-old spayed female who has a short calico-colored coat. Bunny came to us because her previous owners were moving and sadly could not take her along. Bunny waits very patiently for that special family to scoop her up and bring her home. Come down and visit Bunny today. Her great attitude will definitely spark an instant friendship!

Lance

Lance is a three-year-old neutered male. He has a luxurious medium-length black and white coat. He may require a bit of grooming, just to keep his coat looking stellar. Lance can't wait to find his forever family to share a home with. Come down and check him out today, and find out for yourself just how nice and handsome Lance really is.
