WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. The York High School Wildcats' varsity hockey team has made history, securing the Western Maine Class B Championship spot and holding the second place in the state. And, to top off their season, the team has been honored with awards from the Western Maine Class B Hockey Coaches Association, including "Coach of the Year" to Coach Michael Vessey, who is seen here with Coach Jim Powers presenting the "Evans Spear-Most Outstanding Player of the Year" award to Dan Powers.

In what was possibly the most dramatic third period of Class B hockey in this decade, the York High School Wildcats came storming back from a three-goal deficit and lit up six minutes of an unstoppable offensive assault on the Winslow net, tying the State Championship game at 3 all with 32 seconds left in regulation.Hockey ‘Cats players and coach honored with top awards
