YORK - Whether you're a member of Red Sox Nation ready to travel to the Big Apple to support your team or an aspiring golfer hoping to improve your game, York Parks and Recreation has something for you.

The York Parks and Recreation Department is selling 250 raffle tickets for the Red Sox-Yankees game at Yankee Stadium in New York.

According to organizers, this raffle presents the opportunity of a lifetime to see the Red Sox play in Yankee Stadium for the last time ever as the "new" Yankee Stadium will open for play at the start of the 2009 season.

The raffle package includes a four-pack of tickets to the sold out FOX game of the week on Saturday, July 5 - a $440.00 value - as well as roundtrip motor coach transportation. Raffle tickets are $20 each and are limited to just 250 for a 1 in 250 opportunity to see the game. Tickets are available at the Parks and Recreation Department Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The raffle drawing will be held June 6, but the tickets are going fast, so Parks and Recreation staff urge you to pick up yours today.

If golf is more your game, York Par 3 Golf and York Parks and Recreation have teamed up to offer a Children's League and Women's League this spring.

The Children's League is for ages 8 and up with course experience and will play on Thursday evenings at the York Par 3 Golf Course, behind the AutoSpa on Route 1.

Women's Spring League will plan on Tuesday evenings.

The Par 3 uses synthetic turf tee boxes and greens, and an organic fertilizer program for the roughs, making it the first 100 percent non-chemical course in the Seacoast. This course is perfect for the beginner player or the student looking to practice and perfect his or her short game.

These are both six-week leagues, and the Children's League will feature a new twist to each week to keep the game exciting and challenging.

As these are leagues and not lessons, course experience is required. A set of clubs is suggested; however, rentals are available for $2 per day at the Par 3.

The Children's League begins May 15 and runs through June 5 with children in grades 5 through 8 playing from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and those in grades 3 and 4 playing from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The Women's Spring League begins May 13 and ends June 3 with play from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Registrations for both leagues are ongoing through May 7 and the cost is $50 for residents and $60 for nonresidents.

For more information on the raffle or the golf leagues, or to register, call York Parks and Recreation at 363-1040.
