YORK - Every Tuesday evening for the past 37 years, the 60 members of Seacoast Community Chorus have brought heart and voice together to make music.
This spring's concerts, aptly titled "With Heart and Voice," will celebrate 15 years under the direction of Wendell S. Purrington.
Well known locally for his work as tenor soloist, Maestro Purrington is chair of the Performing Arts Department for the Portsmouth School District. He is also Minister of Music at York's First Parish Church.
Music for the Seacoast Community Chorus concerts has been carefully selected by the maestro to reflect many of his favorite choral works, including Schubert's Mass Number 2 in G, Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" and the King's Singers' "You Are the New Day."
The concerts will be held Friday, May 16, at 8 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, N.H., and Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at York's First Parish Church.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from a member of the chorus or at the door.
