YORK COUNTY - The Animal Welfare Society, a companion animal shelter located in West Kennebunk, has welcomed Gail Crowell as program coordinator.

Crowell will focus primarily on public relations, events, community education and volunteer programs.

"Gail comes to AWS with a high level of organization and with key relationships in the community. We're pleased to add her to our wonderful staff and know that she will be a big driver of our success," said Executive Director of the Animal Welfare Society Steve Jacobsen.

Prior to joining the Animal Welfare Society, Crowell worked locally as a manager and event planner in the hospitality industry and also owned a catering business and restaurant in Kennebunkport. She lives in Kennebunk with her family and two dogs, Bella and Brynne.

Crowell received a Bachelor of Arts degree. in English communications from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

"I look forward to assisting the shelter with my skills," said Crowell. "AWS is a wonderful community resource, and I am pleased to do what I can to help continue its mission."

The Animal Welfare Society exists to provide humane shelter and care to animals temporarily in need of housing, and to further the cause of responsible animal adoption and ownership through education and public awareness. The society actively promotes kindness, the elimination of cruelty and neglect to all animals, and the lifelong commitment of people to their pets.
