YORK - The polls will be open for the budget referendum and town election from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at York High School on May 17, but for those who prefer to vote in the comfort of their own homes, absentee ballots are now available at Town Hall.
Absentee ballots may be picked up at the Town Clerk's Office and returned by the close of business prior to the election or at the polls on May 17.
In addition to the contested races for the Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee, and the litany of budget and zoning items to be decided by the May vote, there are also several other races to be determined. However, from the School Committee to the post of town moderator, none of those races are contested.
School Committee Chairwoman Marilyn Zotos is running unopposed for the seat she currently holds on that board while Tom Farnon, Jr., is running for the Sewer District Board of Trustees and Frank H. Witham for the Water District Board of Trustees.
Town Moderator David Ott is running unopposed to once again serve in that capacity.
