Article Image PLAY BALL! York High School dedicated its new flag pole at the baseball/softball field on Wednesday, April 30, just in time for the start of the home varsity season. In a ceremony Wednesday afternoon, the flag pole was dedicated to Ginny and Jerry Leighton, longtime supporters of the school's programs. The teams lined up behind second base, facing the scoreboards, while Alex Haight sang the National Anthem and Alex Blasik and Jerry Ashley raised the flag in honor of the Leightons.

Article Image REGIONAL CHAMPIONS. The University of New Hampshire's Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) team recently won the Northeast regional championship, and five riders were selected to compete in the IDA National Championship held April 26 and 27 at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. There were 12 schools represented from across the country at the Nationals, and UNH's team came in fourth place overall. The Annual Joshua's Book of Dreams 5K Road Race has become a tradition here in town, as Carol and Scott Plaisted's dream of honoring their young son's memory with an organization to provide new and gently-used books to children in need has grown each year.
