Article Image A GRAND OPENING. The official grand opening of the Atlantic House Hotel in York Beach will be celebrated on May 16 and 17. Special events on Friday, May 16, begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue on into the night. Events include Lex & Joe Swing into Summer 2008 on the Blue Sky Deck and tours of the Atlantic House at 3:30 p.m., a champagne toast at 5:30 p.m., the SEA Boutique Summer Fashion Preview at 6 p.m. and the Blue Sky Summer Dance at 9 p.m. The celebration continues on May 17 with free coffee at 8 a.m. at Clara's Cupcake Café, mini-makeovers at SEA Boutique at 9 a.m., a chance to "find" NEMO at YorKids Children's Boutique at 10 a.m., cupcake decorating at Clara's Cupcake Café at 11 a.m., trolley rides to the Nubble from noon to 2 p.m., provided by York Trolley Company, Red Sox vs. Minnesota First Pitch at Blue Sky's Bar Vivi at 3:55 p.m. and a wine tasting at My Wine-y Sister with acoustic guitarist Harvey Reed at 4 p.m. The Atlantic House was originally built in 1877 and has been under reconstruction for over four year by developer Don Rivers, Project Manager Peter Dunfey, TMS Architects, John DeStefano of DeStefano & Associates and principals Harold Anderson and Lorri O'Brien.
