YORK COUNTY - Would you enjoy recreational group bicycling?
Are you intimidated by the spandex and fancy bike crowd?
The Maine Coast Cycling Club may be for you.
The club is seeking to attract new recreational bicyclists of all skill levels who want to meet other riders and enjoy the beautiful coast of Southern Maine.
Toward that goal, the club is sponsoring an introduction to group riding event on Saturday, May 31, from 9 to11 a.m., leaving from Cape Able Bike Shop in Kennebunkport and touring the beautiful Maine coast.
Before the ride - helmets required - there will be a brief class that will cover the dynamics of riding in a group along with safety guidelines.
According to Club President Tom Decker, "we want to attract new recreational cyclists who may have shied away from cycling clubs for fear they could not keep up or whose bike may not be fancy enough - no spandex required."
If you are interested in group rides in order to enjoy the camaraderie of riding with others of the same skill level, learn from each other, and help motivate each other to achieve fitness goals then please consider joining us.
The Maine Coast Cycling Club also sponsors group rides of all skill levels that go out from Cape Able Bike Shop on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. The Sunday morning club rides are followed by social time with coffee and muffins provided by the club.
