Cadet Brendon E. Boston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Boston of York, was acknowledged during the Air Force ROTC award ceremony at the University of Notre Dame from all four grade levels for his outstanding Qualities in Military Leadership, Discipline, Character and Citizenship as well as ranking in the top 25 percent of the ROTC classes. In recognition of his achievement, Cadet Boston was awarded the American Legion General Military Excellence Award, which consists of a silver medal and a ribbon with a distinctive attachment depicting a torch for military excellence.

Kim Heang Kinsey, a current adult education student, won first place in the adult education level with her essay titled "Charity in Cambodia" at the 22nd Annual Literary Achievement Awards in the Wells-Ogunquit Community School District. Kinsey came to Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education to take English classes, which are offered at no charge to anyone who speaks other languages. Visit www.wocsd.org to learn more.

Kristen Root, a recent graduate of the University of Vermont Graduate Class 2008, and a York High School alumna with the class of 2004, will relocate to Boulder, Colo., this fall to pursue her post-graduate studies in midwifery.
