Katie Edkins
Katherine "Katie" Edkins, daughter of Lauren and William Edkins of York, is among the Berwick Academy Cum Laude Seniors. Katie was inducted into the Cum Laude Society as a junior. She entered Berwick Academy in seventh grade, and has maintained High Honors throughout her past six years. She is a member of the National French Honor Society and, as a junior, received a Departmental Recognition Award in English and the Brown University Book Award. Katie has served as a student representative for the Honor Committee for the past two years. She also co-founded Berwick's upper school literary magazine, "The Vernacular," with her younger sister, and, this fall, became a volunteer speaker for MEDA, the Multi Service Eating Disorder Association, in Newton, Mass. She is a senior class student government representative and a member of the varsity basketball and softball teams. For the first week of her senior project, Katie completed a personal writing project that she began this semester. For the second week, Katie worked with Berwick's lower school students, focusing on literacy activities. This fall, Katie will attend Dartmouth College, where she plans to study English and Chinese.
