YORK - Over 350 people participated in York Hospital's Annual 5K Road and Cross Country Race held June 7.

All proceeds from the race will benefit York Hospital's Community Fitness Program.

The York Hospital 5K Road and Cross Country Race generated a tremendous amount of community support, from the number of local runners, to the volunteers helping to hand out water, guide our racers along the route and handle registration duties.

The course took runners through 3-plus miles of scenic York Village and York Harbor, including The Wiggly Bridge and Steadman Woods.

Overall winners were Bob Winn of Ogunquit, 16:37, and Kim Povec of Durham, N.H., 18:45.

For ages 10 and under, the winners were Christopher D'Aquila of York, 27:59, and Tess McNamara of Eliot, 28:34. For ages 11 to 13, the winners were Spencer Fox of York, 22:00, and Alexa Bando of York, 24:42. In the division for ages 14 to 17, the winners were William Janakis of South Berwick with 19:08 and Molly Dwyer of Portsmouth, N.H., with 33:17.

Winners in the division for ages 18 to 29 were Aaron Robertson of York, 18:37, and Deanne Garafolo of York, 23:22; in the age 30 to 39 division, Kevin Carlson of South Berwick with 19:24 and Laurie Gaudreau of Springvale with 19:48.

For ages 40 to 49, the winners were Neil Amidon of York with 19:09 and Karen Potter of York with 23:41, and for ages 50 to 54 it was John Webber of Sanford with 19:17 and Sally Brown of York with 26:11.

In the category for ages 55 to 59 the winners were Craig Ewing of Sedalia, Colo., with 23:01 and Anne Bryer of Kittery Point with 29:40; for ages 60 to 64, the winners were Stephen Reed of Wiscasset with a time of 19:11 and Mary Ulinski of Dover, N.H., at 28:56.

For ages 65 to 69, the winners were Duncan McEachern of Kittery with a time of 24:36 and Penny Cushman of Albany, N.Y., with a time of 34:35, and for ages 70 and over the winner was Lloyd Slocum of Hollis with a time of 23:03.

In a special category for York Hospital employees, the winners were Brian Liddy of York with a time of 20:26 and Karen Bragdon of Wells with a time of 27:58.

York Hospital event organizers thanked the York Police Department, York Volunteer Ambulance and the many volunteers who helped ensure a safe race as well as Kennebunk Savings Bank, Amidon Family Dentistry, AquaPure Water Technology, Coastal Fitness,  Kleen Linen Services & Drycleaning, Seacoast Fitness, Seacoast Orthotics & Prosthetics of York, Sports Medicine Atlantic Orthopaedics, The Stolen Menu Café and York Orthopedics - Dr. Matthew Donovan for sponsoring the event.
