YORK - The York High School Athletic Department celebrated this year's successful spring sports season with the 2008 Spring Sports Awards on Monday evening, June 9.

Girls' lacrosse awards included the Badge of Courage Award to Amy Caramihalis; Dirt Dog Award to Kellee Cribby; Coach's Award to Kelsey Simonds; Most Improved     to Ashley Taylor, and MVP Offense to Kiah Voyer-Colbath.

Boys' lacrosse awards included the 100% Award to Ben Hecht; Defensive Player of the Year to Victor Zetterberg; Most Improved to P.J. Saltzman, and MVP, JV.     

Boys' track and field awards were the Mad Dog Award to Brian Farrell; Coach's Award to Andrew Hirst; MVP to Mathieu Maertens, and Most Improved to Ryan Means.

Girls' track and field awards included Most Improved to Colleen Buckless; Mad Dog Award to Molly Carl; MVP to Danielle Clements, and Coach's Award to Katherine Rasche.

Softball awards were Most Improved to Christine Buford; Outstanding Leadership to Brittany Bracy; Highest Batting Avg. (.348) to Melissa Enright; Most Versatile Player to Marie DePeter, and Best All Around Player to Alexandra Rennie.                                   

Girls' tennis awards were Most Improved to Erika Jolie; Team Spirit Award to Katherine McGuigan, and Most Improved to Michelle Raymond.

Boys' tennis awards were MVP to Aaron Waldman and Most Improved to Matt Campbell.

A strong showing of York athletes were also selected as All-Stars in their respective sports.

Track All Stars include Molly Carl, Danielle Clements, Chelsey Tewell, Stephanie Lomasney, Emily Mitchell, Nicole Taylor, Michaela Swiatek, Andrew Hirst, Robert Cook, Jared Prugar, Brian Farrell and Mark Vogel.

Baseball All Stars are Jim Kennedy, Kevin Maran, Matthew Haight and Andrew Loane.

Lacrosse All Star is Kiah Voyer-Colbath.

Tennis All Stars are Zach Kofman, Aaron Waldman and Frawley Barton.

Softball All Stars are Alexandra Rennie and Marie DePeter.

Among this year's Achievement Awards, York boasts several Track and Field State Champions: Chelsey Tewell, 100 meter, 100 meter hurdles; Robert Cook, 100 meter, and the Girls 4x100 Relay Team of Stephanie Lomasney, Emily Mitchell, Danielle Clements and Tewell, as well as the Western Maine Champion girls' track and field team and the Western Maine Conference Champion baseball team.
