YORK - State Rep. Windol Weaver, R-York, has compiled a near-perfect voting record during the 123rd Maine Legislature.
The Republican lawmaker was present for 99.1 percent of the roll call votes taken in this, his first time, registering one of the highest attendance rates in the Maine House of Representatives.
"The primary responsibility of a legislator is to be in your seat when votes are taken," Weaver noted when his voting record was announced. "The people of York sent me here to be their voice on issues of importance to our town and the state in general. It's a high honor to represent York and I want to do the best job possible for my constituents."
House Republican leader Josh Tardy described Weaver as distinguishing himself through his diligent work in the legislature.
"Windol sets a high standard for everyone to follow when it comes to professionalism and the ability to calmly reason through difficult issues," Tardy stated in an announcement of Weaver's achievement. "He's a very popular member of our caucus, and as his voting record shows, he's dedicated to his work here. The people of York are fortunate to have a man of Windol's caliber as their representative."
Weaver represents House District 150, which includes part of York. He serves on the State and Local Government Committee and also is a member of the Joint Select Committee on Prosperity.
Weaver retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years, where his service included flying 524 combat missions in Vietnam. An accounting graduate of Texas A&M University, he worked as a stockbroker following his military career. He is a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion.
