YORK - Leading preacher, author and activist Dr. Tony Campolo is scheduled to speak at the First Parish Church in July in "An Evening with Tony Campolo."

This service of worship, featuring a message by Campolo, will be offered on July 27 at 7 p.m.

Campolo, professor of sociology at Eastern University in St. David's, Pa., has been listed among the most celebrated and sought-after speakers in the United States, and has appeared on CNN News, Nightline, Crossfire, Larry King Live and Politically Incorrect.

Campolo is known for his passion, humor and challenging insights into faith and life and is the author of 32 books, the most recent of which are "Red Letter Christians" and "Let Me Tell You a Story."

He is the founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, a ministry that has developed and nurtured elementary and secondary schools, universities, adult and child literacy centers, tutoring programs, orphanages, AIDS hospices, urban youth ministries, summer camps and long-term Christian service programs in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Africa, Canada and throughout the US.
