YORK - It was an exciting week of playoff action for York Little League, culminating in the Major League Championship Game between the Twins and the Blue Jays.

Padres 6, Astros 2

Jackson Cogger, Kevin McKenna and Morgan Briggs combined for the win for the Padres. McKenna got the offense going for the Padres with an inside the park homer in the bottom of the first, and Morgan Briggs hit a mile high triple to drive in a few more.  Josh Mitchell started the game and pitched well with Aaron Todd coming on in relief.  The Astros offense was led by Kevin Barrett (one hit and one RBI). Jordan Pidgeon and Aaron Todd both had hits as well.

Blue Jays 5, Phillies 1

Andrew Lamonica was dominant on the mound as he threw a no-hitter to lead the Blue Jays in the first round of the playoffs. Lamonica struck out 15 of the 19 batters he faced during his complete game. The only batter that reached, did so on a fielding error. Adam Legg, Daniel Bock and Lamonica all had doubles and scored for the Jays. Dillion Goslin had a hit and scored for the Jays and Zane Insko collected two hits, scored and did a great job behind the plate catching Lamonica.

Josh Karpowicz scored for the Phillies and had a great assist from center field to gun down a Blue Jay trying to score in the fourth. Derek Neal pitched a good game for the Phillies.

Blue Jays 8, Athletics 4

Daniel Bock (10 Ks) pitched five and two-thirds strong innings to earn the win for the Blue Jays in their advance to the championship game. Tyler Barrows came in to strike out the last batter of the game to pick up the save. The Blue Jays played well in the field led by Adam Legg playing a great center field and Andrew Lamonica, at short stop, laying out to make a fantastic catch to end the fifth inning. Legg opened the scoring for the Jays by hitting a three-run homerun in the first. Bock helped himself out by going three-for-four at the plate and scoring twice, while Lamonica added a double and scored twice and Charlie O'Shaugnessy had two hits and an RBI.

The A's offense was powered by hard hits from Anthony Sciaudone and Ross Hogan. Trenton Spencer had a hit and scored twice for the A's. Hogan pitched well in relief for the A's.

Twins 12, Padres 5

The Padres threatened early, but Adam Bailey (double, three RBIs) came in to end the threat and it was smooth sailing from there for the Twins, who iced the game in the fifth with a three-run line drive homer from Ben Lawlor. A homer by Taylor Newton and a two-run shot by Morgan Briggs led the Padres' offense. Lars Lauersen and Matt Wacker each scored a run on head's up base running for the Twins. Jack Lawlor went two-for-two at the plate and made the last put out of the game.
