THE DOGS
Ellie
Ellie
Ellie is a four-year-old spayed female mini Australian shepherd who is at the Animal Welfare Society because her owners didn't have the time to train her. She is not housetrained and needs a home with children over the age of 15. She gets along well with cats and other dogs. Ellie is shy when she first meets you but will warm once she gets to know you.
George
George
This handsome man is George. He is a 10-year-old neutered male Lab mix who can't wait to leave the shelter life behind and find a nice, comfy retirement home to move into. George will do just fine sharing his new home with dogs, cats and children over the age of 8. He is quite a smart guy, knowing the commands sit, shake, down, stay and come. One of George's favorite things to do is to go on gentle daily walks. This sweet and sensitive guy will be a great addition to one special family.
Sally
Sally
Gracefully sweet and playfully silly, Sally is a laidback girl who enjoys a nice relaxing day of lounging on her dog bed. She is very fond of her loved ones and will seek their company any chance she gets for a belly rub and some cuddle time. A bit uneasy in new situations and around new people, Sally is looking for a family that can be patient with her and use positive reinforcement to help ease her through her new encounters. More than happy to please and certainly food motivated, Sally is a wonderful candidate for obedience classes offered here at the shelter. These courses would help Sally immensely and strengthen the bond between her and her new family. She has shared her previous home with cats and did nothing but ignore them so she won't mind a new feline her life. Though Sally had another dog in her household prior to arriving at AWS, she can be a bit picky about which dogs tickle her fancy. So, if you have a pooch at home, be sure to bring him or her in for a visit. Tennis balls are one of Sally's favorites; she loves to play ball but unfortunately can't play at this time due to an injury that needs repairing. Sally has torn a ligament in her knee and will need surgery to fix it up. We all love Sally here at AWS and feel she deserves the chance to find a loving home despite this small challenge, so we are asking that her new family help us out a bit with some of the cost of the surgery and we'll take care of the rest. She is a remarkable girl and at just six years old, she has so much potential to grow and thrive in a loving new home. We can't wait until she finds her special new people, so don't be shy! Drop by for a visit and meet our precious girl Sally.
THE CATS
Bernadette
Bernadette
Meet Bernadette, a two-year-old spayed female, who has a nice medium black-with-some-white colored coat. Bernadette is not only a very friendly cat, but quite the little lover, too. She would love to find her forever family to go home with so that she can shower them with kisses. Bernadette would love to have some visitors so, come down and see her today! Bernadette just may the perfect little love bug for you!
Clarence
Clarence
Hi, I'm Clarence and if I do say so myself, I'm quite the handsome guy! I'm a one-year-old neutered male classic black cat! My personality is shy but sweet. I was surrendered to Animal Welfare Society by an animal control officer, and my personality would make me the perfect addition to a quiet home. Visit me today!
Whistle
Whistle
Little miss Whistle has been with us here at the shelter far too long; she s ready to pack her bags and get on out of here. At the young age of three years, Whistle sees life as a big adventure with much exploring to do. Being the independent girl that she is, she prefers to seek attention from her friends, when she feels fit, with a friendly head-butt and a bit of a purr. Her free-spirited nature does not make her a good fit for little ones as she does not enjoy being picked up or doted over. This sassy girl loves toys and gets very excited when her loved ones play "chase the mouse" with her. Whistle is looking to find a home where she can be appreciated for her beauty with respect and dignity. Though she may not be a lap cat, she will bring her family years of delight with her quirky personality and dazzling beauty.
OTHER PETS
Isis and Jacey
Isis and Jacey
These lovely ladies are adult female Angora bunnies named Isis and Jacey. These girls love each other dearly, so they must stay together. They are both quite unsure of people because they were previously in a neglectful situation. If you start out by slowly reaching into their cage, petting them gently and reassuring them in a quiet and loving voice, they start to calm down. With patience and tons of TLC they will come to trust people and will be great pets.
Izzy and Phil
Izzy and Phil
We are four-year-old best friends who need to be adopted together because we love each other. We have been wonderful pets, but our owners moved out of state and couldn't take us. We are delightful little creatures who love to play, explore and sleep in our little hammocks.
Patty
Patty
I am Patty. I'm a mixed-breed black and white girl with black spots on my face. My nose is pink, but I have beautiful black fur around it to the top of my nose. My ears are black and my chest is all white. I love to be held and petted. As a rule, big bunnies like me are more tolerant than dwarf bunnies. Please come and visit me anytime. I am sure that we will become the best of friends and you will want to bring me home the minute you see me.
If you are interested in adopting any of these animals or if you'd like to know who else is available for adoption, please visit the Animal Welfare Society at http://www.animalwelfaresociety.org/ or call us at 985-3244.
