David T. Ekholm
CAPE NEDDICK - David T. Ekholm, 55, of 29 Agamenticus Avenue, died on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, in the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his family by his side following a long and courageous battle with melanoma.

He was born Nov. 10, 1952, in New London, Conn. He graduated from Woodstock Academy, Woodstock, Conn., in 1970; received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Gordon College in 1974, and a Master of Science degree and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1980. He was employed as a member of the technical staff at the former AT&T and Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, N.H., until 1994, when he left to open A Compleat Mystery Bookshop in Portsmouth, N.H., with his wife, Susan.
He was an amateur sports photographer and astronomical photographer, loved to golf and was a member of the American Physical Society.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Susan J. (Somers) Ekholm; his parents, A. Theodore and Barbara (Field) Ekholm of Standish; two sons, Daniel S. Ekholm and his wife, Lori, of Rochester, N.H., and Carl D. Ekholm of Cape Neddick; two brothers, Stephen Ekholm and his wife, Debbie, of Barrington, R.I., and Glenn Ekholm and his wife, Mary, of South Portland; two sisters, Carole Ekholm of Woodstock Valley, Conn., and Gloria Thomas and her husband, Allen, of Buxton, and two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Adrianna.
Calling hours for Mr. Ekholm were held Aug. 5 with a Celebration of Life on Aug. 6 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home. Burial will be private in the First Parish Cemetery.

Joan I. Martin
HUDSON, N.H. - Mrs. Joan I. (Monbleau) Martin, 59, a former longtime resident of Lowell, Mass., and more recently of Hudson, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two-year battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease.
She was the wife of Roland W. Martin for over 40 years, with whom she owned and operated the Roland W. Martin Funeral Home in Lowell.
Born in Lowell on July 18, 1949, she was a daughter of Mrs. Laurette B. (Chandonnet) (Monbleau) Kauker and the late Roger R. Monbleau.
She was a graduate of Ste Jeanne d'Arc School, St. Joseph Girls High School, she attended Lowell Commercial College and was a graduate of New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, class of 1982, at which time she became certified in funeral service.
Joan was one of the first ladies in funeral service in the Greater Lowell Area, having owned and operated their family business along with her husband and two sons.
She was a longtime parishioner of the former Ste Jeanne d'Arc Church and more recently of the Parish of Saint Rita, and was also a volunteer at the former St. Joseph's Hospital.
She will be best remembered for her smile and her enjoyment of playing cards, watching Red Sox and Patriots games, shopping with her sisters, spending time at her Ogunquit home, her dogs Mugsy and Sasha, and especially her five grandchildren.
Surviving her in addition to her husband Roland W. Martin are a daughter, Cheryl A. Martin, of Lowell; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen R. and Kimberly A. Martin of York, and Daniel R. and Alayna A. Martin of Lowell; her mother and stepfather, Laurette B. and Edward T. Kauker of Bethlehem, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jacob, Aidan and Ava of York, and Aldan and Adarra of Lowell; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elaine I. Hudon and her husband Paul of Nashua, N.H., Janet E. Roth and her husband Michael of Hudson, N.H., Adele V. Martin and her husband Roger of Dracut, Mass.; nieces and a nephew, and many dear friends and funeral service colleagues.
Her funeral was celebrated Aug. 7 in the Parish of Saint Rita Church, Lowell, with graveside services and burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelmsford, Mass. Joseph L. Weinzettle
YORK - Joseph L. Weinzettle, 73, of 6 Organug Lane, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in York Hospital.
He was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Queens, N.Y., son of Joseph and Dorothy (Saul) Weinzettle. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He graduated from Chicago Institute and was a civil engineer at the World Trade Center. He was the owner of J. L. Weinzettle Construction Co. in York. He also worked for J. B. Sullivan Co., for W.T. Rich Co. and for T.L.T. Co., all in Massachusetts.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Theresa B. (Hosbach) Weinzettle; four daughters, Joan Weinzettle of Kittery, Judy D. Mankus and her husband David of Wolfeboro, N.H., Karen P. Gaible-Carroll and her husband Thomas of Lexington, Ky., Auralee S. Gaible-Ellis and her husband William of Mastic Beach, N.Y.; a sister, Joan Marcel of South Carolina, and six grandchildren, Jonathan Conley, Jessica and Carly Mankus and Theresa, Barbara and Jennifer Carroll.
Calling hours for Mr. Weinzettle were held July 30 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home with a funeral service July 31 in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
