YORK - York Youth Football had its season opener with Wells on Aug. 30 and the weather was perfect for football.

The junior A team edged out Wells in a defensive battle until Don Goodrich broke free and ran 28 yards for the game's only score. York won 8-0.

Goodrich led the offense with a total of 81 yards and eight points.

Defense was led by Reggie Muchemore with an amazing nine tackles and three assists. Patrick Moran recovered a fumble and Wes Warner had an interception.

The B team's season start was also ended with a big win.

On the first offensive play of the season, Austin Santoro had a fullback run up the middle and scored with an 80-yard run. Josh Mitchell ran the ball in for the second touchdown and Josh Donahoe snuck between two defenders and caught an 18-yarder for the game's third score.

Wells was shut out and had a total of 13 yards rushing. York won 18-0

On Aug. 24, the league had its first scrimmage of the season against the Kittery Sharks.

The A team easily breezed by the Sharks with a 32-0 victory.

Sean Kelly led the team with two touchdowns; Thomas Kinton and Josh Mitchell each had one. York had 296 yards rushing to the Sharks' 74.

York's defense was led by Wes Warner and Ross Hogan, each with three tackles and three assists. Hogan also had one interception.

The B team had an intra-team scrimmage and tied 0-0.
