YORK VILLAGE - "Urban Explorations," an exhibit of the works of award-winning artist Jim Kelly, is on display at the York Public Library through Nov. 24.

According to the artist, his work is about reinventing and recreating something new and vital from the old and discarded. His mixed media images explore the patterns and textures of disintegrating urban and industrial landscapes, which are multilayered and fused by time and wear.

"I select images and apply various media - oils, acrylics, pastel, etc. - that change the shape, form and meaning of the originals," Kelly has stated. "The final product is a rebirth of the cast-off and forgotten, an infusion of new life into an old scene."
