Article Image A MEMORABLE GIFT. If you didn't attend Harvest Daze in Sanford this year, you missed a great exhibition of scarecrows - there were 27 scarecrows entered in the competition and awards given out for People's and Judge's Choice.  The entries were varied, creative and fun, fun, fun! The winner of both the People's and Judge's Choice award, Harley Crow, is pictured here. Clint Springer, the creator of Harley Crow, split his winnings between two different donations. Accepting for Strategy for a Stronger Sanford is Executive Director Joan Affonso.  Strategy for a Stronger Sanford plans on using the donation towards their 2nd annual Distinguished Contributor Youth Night which recognizes two deserving young people. Cathy Walters, coordinator of the SIS team for the Memory Walk is accepting for the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. Kim Stewart is a Retail Loan Officer for SIS, a board member of the Sanford Downtown Legacy and coordinator the Scarecrow Contest.  "The scarecrow contest was not only a fun event," stated Stewart, "it was a win-win for Sanford!  Our blue ribbon winner donated the winnings back into two Sanford area events.  That's what it is all about, giving back to the community here in Sanford."
