YORK COUNTY - The University of Southern Maine in Gorham will be hosting several Information Sessions in October for its highly acclaimed teacher preparation program, the Extended Teacher Education Program (a.k.a. ETEP).
In York County, a session will be held Oct. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kennebunk Elementary School. Faculty members, current interns in the program, a graduate admission representative and an advisor will all be present. Information sessions will consist of a presentation by faculty and staff followed by a question and answer session. Participants will receive a packet of materials about ETEP, Graduate admissions information and financial aid information.
These sessions are for those who are considering a graduate teacher preparation program to learn about what the University of Southern Maine has to offer. Individuals interested in K-8 general education, 7-12 English, math, life science, physical science or social studies, K-12 foreign language, ELL or special education - either K-8 or 7-12 - are all welcome. No preregistration is required.
The ETEP program is a nationally known and state-approved teacher preparation program that combines a yearlong internship in the classroom with the pedagogical course work required for Maine state certification.
