YORK - In the weeks head, the Planning Board's York Beach Zoning Subcommittee will host multiple open sessions to encourage residents to find out more about the proposed York Beach Zoning Ordinance.

Town Planner Christine Grimando confirmed that the question-and-answer information sessions regarding proposed zoning article for the Nov. 4 General Referendum will be held at Ricks Restaurant in York Village each Friday in October from 8 to 9 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

The announcement cameo n the heels of the Planning Board's Sept. 25 meeting, which include an extensive discussion of the controversy that has come up over the proposed zoning ordinance, with several members expressing concern about inaccurate perceptions of the ordinance and their desire to make people aware of the goals of the proposal. The subcommittee continues to hold public meetings as it works on the ongoing effort to update zoning in the York Beach business district.

For more information on the upcoming question-and-answer sessions, contact the Planning Department at 363-1007.

Also at its most recent meeting, the Planning Board discussed scheduling a public workshop on the subject of wind energy based on multiple calls to the Planning Department on the subject and requests for information. That informational session is being planned for the board's Oct. 23 meeting at 7 p.m. at the York Public Library.
